I used this book as a read-aloud to introduce basic map skills to my combined 1st and 2nd-grade class. It is not too technical and gives plenty of easy-to-understand vocabulary for this age group. It has examples of a variety of map types.

Bought this book on line, as i am starting to hike in our forest areas, thought this might put some structure into the correct procedures for map and compass use.
